Fort Wayne, IN – Yesterday’s grim tally of justice served saw Brock E. Russell, 45, face the music for his heinous crime: a staggering 188-month sentence handed down by United States District Court Chief Judge Holly A. Brady. Russell, a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, had pleaded guilty to the serious charges of possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to court documents, it was back in February 2024 when law enforcement pulled over Russell’s vehicle for a traffic stop. What they found inside was a horror show: nearly five pounds of pure meth and a digital scale, along with numerous firearms. As a multi-convicted felon, the possession of these guns was illegal, but Russell had no qualms about breaking federal law.
“Brock Russell aimed to distribute a massive amount of meth—five pounds—into our communities,” Acting U.S. Attorney M. Scott Proctor declared. “But his plans were thwarted by our exceptional team of investigators and prosecutors who put an end to his illegal conduct.”
The investigation into Russell’s crime was a collaborative effort, with the Drug Enforcement Administration leading the charge along with support from several local law enforcement agencies including the Fort Wayne Police Department, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Allen County Police Department, South Bend Police Department, and the DEA’s North Central Laboratory. Assistant U.S. Attorney Teresa L. Ashcraft handled the prosecution.
This case is a part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that brings together all levels of law enforcement to reduce violent crime and make neighborhoods safer. The Department launched a strategic approach on May 26, 2021, aimed at fostering trust in communities, supporting violence prevention organizations, and setting focused enforcement priorities.
For Russell, the sentence is final. But for Fort Wayne, it’s one less menace on the streets, thanks to the relentless efforts of law enforcement. The city is a little safer today because of their unyielding dedication.
