BOSTON – A Springfield man was put behind bars today for his role in distributing crack cocaine in the city. Dmitri Major, 38, was sentenced to 21 months in prison and five years of supervised release by U.S. District Judge Mark G. Mastroianni.

According to court documents, Major pleaded guilty to distributing crack cocaine to an undercover law enforcement officer in a parking lot near known drug dealing and street gang territory on October 9 and 17, 2013. The case was the result of a targeted investigation by federal and local law enforcement agencies.

United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz and Harold H. Shaw, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Field Division, made the announcement today. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin O’Regan, Chief of Ortiz’s Springfield Branch Office.
