Liverpool Man Pleads Guilty to Receipt and Possession of Child Pornography
Syracuse, NY – In a disturbing case of child exploitation, Dominic Zampini, a 26-year-old Liverpool man, has pleaded guilty to one count of receipt of child pornography and two counts of possession of child pornography.
According to the charges, between October 2020 and December 2020, Zampini knowingly received child pornography images over the internet from another individual he met through a mobile application. He also admitted to possessing images depicting child pornography on two cell phones in September 2021.
As part of his guilty plea, Zampini faces at least 5 years and up to 60 years in prison. Following a sentence of imprisonment, he will be placed on a term of supervised release of between 5 years and life, and will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
The case is being investigated by the New York State Police and the Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew J. McCrobie as part of Project Safe Childhood.
Project Safe Childhood is a national initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The program aims to marshal federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
