New Orleans Man Charged with Child Exploitation
A 38-year-old New Orleans man has been charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of children and two counts of transfer of obscene matter to a minor, announced U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans.
Dominick Anthony Valotta, also known as joncimpo#8015, allegedly coerced two minor females to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of that conduct. He also transferred obscene matter to a minor female on at least two occasions.
According to the indictment, the crimes occurred in late 2022 and early 2023. Valotta faces a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 15 years and a maximum term of imprisonment of 30 years for each of the two counts of sexual exploitation of children.
He also faces a maximum term of 10 years in prison, up to 3 years of supervised release, up to a $250,000 fine, and a mandatory $100 special assessment fee for each of the two counts of transfer of obscene matter to a minor.
As part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Jordan Ginsberg is in charge of the prosecution.
The indictment was unsealed on November 16, 2023, and Valotta is currently facing the charges. An indictment is merely a charge, and the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
Valotta may also be required to register as a sex offender if convicted. The case is being brought as part of the nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
