West Virginia Man Sentenced for Fentanyl Distribution

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – A Columbus, Ohio man was sentenced to prison for his role in a fentanyl distribution scheme. Donald Ray Jackson, 38, was found guilty of assisting in the sale of what was purported to be heroin to a confidential informant in Huntington on August 30, 2016.

Forensic chemists later discovered that the substance contained a mixture of both heroin and fentanyl, a highly potent opioid.

United States Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia, Will Thompson, praised the investigative work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) in the case.

Donald Ray Jackson was sentenced to four years and three months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

He will serve his prison time for distribution of heroin and fentanyl, a serious crime that has plagued communities across the country.

Assistant United States Attorney Joseph F. Adams prosecuted the case, which was assigned Case No. 3:17-cr-183.
