A 30-year-old Shreveport man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation.
Dondell Pea, 30, of Shreveport, was arrested on May 26, 2016 after returning home, where agents found him with 266.3 grams of methamphetamine in his vehicle and a .40 caliber handgun in his home.
According to the October 24, 2016 guilty plea, Pea had made arrangements to sell methamphetamine with a buyer. His arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the DEA and the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Tennille M. Gilreath and Allison D. Bushnell prosecuted the case against Pea, who was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Elizabeth E. Foote.
The sentence also includes 10 years of supervised release for Pea. The exact amount of methamphetamine found in his possession is staggering, with 266.3 grams seized by agents.
The investigation into Pea’s activities is a reminder of the ongoing struggle against methamphetamine trafficking in the Shreveport area.
In related news, the DEA and local law enforcement continue to work together to combat the illicit drug trade in the region.
