Donta Bridges, Heroin and Gun Offenses, Indiana 2022

SOUTH BEND – In a shocking turn of events, a LaPorte man has been found guilty of multiple drug and gun offenses following a three-day jury trial.

According to court documents, 38-year-old Donta Bridges was found guilty of two counts of distributing heroin, possessing with intent to distribute heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine, attempted distribution of heroin, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The charges date back to September and November 2019, and the case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives with the assistance of the LaPorte County Drug Task Force.

Bridges’ sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 6, 2023, at 1:30 p.m., where a District Court Judge will determine the specific sentence to be imposed after considering federal statutes and the United States Sentencing Guidelines.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence by bringing together law enforcement and communities to make neighborhoods safer.
