Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – In a shocking revelation, Dr. Floyd Smith, M.D., a licensed anesthesiologist from Oklahoma City, has been embroiled in a prescription abuse scandal that has left the medical community reeling.
According to sources close to the investigation, Dr. Smith allegedly issued prescriptions for controlled substances to family members in violation of state law between January 2014 and February 2019. The prescriptions were reportedly not issued in the usual course of professional practice and were not accompanied by required medical files on the family members.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Oklahoma, led by Timothy J. Downing, announced the settlement, which includes Dr. Smith paying $70,000 to the United States and surrendering his medical license and DEA registration number for a period of three years.

The investigation into Dr. Smith’s activities was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Office of Diversion Control. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Ronald R. Gallegos and Amanda R. Johnson prosecuted the case, bringing Dr. Smith’s actions to light.
