CRIME BUST: Rivesville Man Handed 18-Month Sentence for Unlawful Gun Possession
A Marion County man has been punished for his actions after he pleaded guilty to Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Duane Jabbar Martin, 32, of Rivesville, West Virginia, was sentenced to 18 months incarceration.
According to the sentencing, Martin admitted to possessing a 9mm semi-automatic handgun in April 2016. He had previously been convicted of a felony offense in Marion County, which prohibits him from possessing a firearm.
The crime occurred in April 2016. Martin’s guilty plea was made public in January 2017. He was found guilty of one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Traci M. Cook handled the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office worked together to investigate the matter.
U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided over the case. Martin will spend the next 18 months behind bars as a result of his actions.
