BOSTON, MA – A Boston man has plead guilty to illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition while under house arrest for four state firearm charges.
Dumari Shakur Scarlett-Dixon, 22, pleaded guilty to being an unlawful drug user in possession of a firearm and ammunition. U.S. District Court Chief Judge F. Dennis Saylor IV scheduled sentencing for January 11, 2024.
The investigation, which began in 2021, identified Scarlett-Dixon as a member of the Heath Street gang and revealed a Snapchat account posting numerous videos and images of himself in possession of firearms. At the time of the conduct, Scarlett-Dixon was on pre-trial release for four separate state court cases of unlawful possession of a firearm.
As a condition of his release, Scarlett-Dixon was on court-ordered home confinement with GPS monitoring at his grandmother’s residence in Weymouth. The search of his bedroom uncovered a Bersa 9-millimeter semi-automatic pistol, 59 rounds of ammunition, and blunts of marijuana – a Schedule I controlled substance – in September 2021.
The charge of being an unlawful drug user in possession of a firearm and ammunition carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, up to 3 years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000.
The operation was conducted as part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Strike Force Initiative. The case was announced by Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy, James M. Ferguson, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Boston Division, and Brian D. Boyle, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, New England Division.
Special assistance in the investigation was provided by the Boston, Quincy, and Lynn Police Departments, as well as the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Pohl of the Narcotics & Money Laundering Unit is prosecuting the case.
