Pittsburgh Man Sentenced for Heroin Distribution and Gun Charges

A Pittsburgh-area man has been sentenced to 6 years in prison for conspiring to distribute heroin and for possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, according to the United States Attorney’s office.

Dustin Petry, 27, of Allegheny County, was sentenced by United States District Judge David S. Cercone to 72 months in prison for his crimes. Judge Cercone also imposed a three-year term of supervised release to follow the prison sentence.

The investigation into Petry’s activities was a multi-agency effort led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office. The other agencies involved included the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Moon Township Police, the North Fayette Police, the Pittsburgh Police, the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, the Pennsylvania State Police, the McKees Rocks Police, the Cranberry Township Police, the McKeesport Police, and the Wilkinsburg Police.

Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States. The sentence was announced by United States Attorney David J. Hickton.
