Earnest Lee Pittman, Jr., Online Enticement of a Minor, Pennsylvania 2021

A 46-year-old man from Monroe County, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempting to entice a minor into sex online.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Earnest Lee Pittman, Jr. was sentenced on December 14, 2021, by United States District Court Judge Robert D. Mariani.

Pittman, of Cresco, Pennsylvania, used the internet and a cellular phone between August 4, 2020, and August 12, 2020, to attempt to persuade someone he believed to be a 15-year-old minor to engage in sexual activity.

When he arrived for the encounter, Kingston Municipal Police officers arrested Pittman.

The matter was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Kingston Municipal Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jenny P. Roberts prosecuted the case.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Pittman’s 10-year sentence will be followed by five years of supervised release.
