East Pittsburgh Man Guilty of Cocaine and Gun Charges

PITTSBURGH – In a shocking turn of events, 53-year-old Tracey Yancey of East Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has pleaded guilty to two federal charges related to cocaine and gun trafficking.

According to court documents, Yancey was part of a larger scheme to possess and distribute over 500 grams of cocaine, which was shipped from California to the Western District of Pennsylvania through the United States Postal Service or commercial carrier. Additionally, Yancey was found to have obtained a firearm, which he was prohibited from possessing due to his prior conviction as a felon.

The investigation into Yancey’s activities began in 2013, when the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other agencies joined forces to investigate a multi-agency wiretap operation targeting drug trafficking and violence in the Homewood section of Pittsburgh. The wiretap operation intercepted communications between Yancey and his co-conspirators, leading to his eventual arrest and guilty plea.

Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, Yancey faces a possible sentence of 5-50 years in prison, a fine of up to $5,250,000, or both. His sentencing is scheduled for September 9, 2016.

Assistant United States Attorney Tonya Sulia Goodman is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Greater Pittsburgh Safe Streets Task Force, and several local police departments conducted the investigation that led to Yancey’s prosecution.

Yancey’s guilty plea is a significant blow to the alleged drug trafficking operation in the Pittsburgh area. As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen how many others will be implicated in the scheme.

The case against Yancey serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle against drug trafficking and gun violence in Western Pennsylvania. As the community continues to grapple with the consequences of these crimes, it is clear that the authorities will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.
