Princess L. Eatmon, Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud, Georgia 2013

ALBANY, GA — Princess L. Eatmon, 25, a former Dougherty County resident, was sentenced to serve 48 months in federal prison for orchestrating a massive student loan fraud scheme that funneled $139,087 into her hands.

Eatmon pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and was sentenced by Honorable W. Louis Sands on March 21, 2013. She used the internet and her home computer to enroll individuals in online universities under false identities, collecting federal student loans and grants meant for legitimate education pursuits.

The fraudulent scheme targeted at least 27 individuals from the Albany area who unknowingly provided their personal information to Eatmon. The fraudster’s primary goal was not to help these individuals pursue higher education but to steal government funds. Two co-conspirators, Kevinall Wheeler and Dontreal Jenkins, have also been prosecuted for their roles in the scheme.

During her sentencing hearing, U.S. Attorney Michael Moore highlighted the impact of Eatmon’s actions: ‘Students from all walks of life depend on student loans and grants to further their education. When Ms. Eatmon committed this fraud, she stole money that could have been used to help deserving students go to college.’

On October 15, 2012, while awaiting sentencing for the student loan fraud, Eatmon was charged with additional crimes, including theft of U.S. Treasury checks and aggravated identity theft. Her bond was revoked following these charges, and she has been in custody since that date.

This case was a joint effort between local law enforcement, including the Dougherty County Police Department, and federal agencies such as the United States Department of Education and the United States Secret Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Crane led the prosecution.
