Eddie Wilson, Fentanyl Dealer Pleads Guilty, New York 2021

A devastating fentanyl dealer has been brought to justice after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Eddie Wilson, 24, of Rochester, NY, pleaded guilty to the charges before U.S. District Judge David G. Larimer.

The charges carry a minimum penalty of five years in prison, a maximum of life, and a $1,000,000 fine.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew T. McGrath, who is handling the case, during the summer of 2021, Homeland Security Investigations and the Greater Rochester Area Narcotics Enforcement Team began investigating Wilson’s drug trafficking activities after learning that he sold fentanyl to an individual who then overdosed on the drugs.

In October 2021, investigators executed a search warrant at Wilson’s Wolfert Terrace residence in Rochester, which resulted in the seizure of fentanyl and cocaine packaged for street sale, a loaded firearm, drug packaging paraphernalia, and U.S. currency.

The plea is the culmination of an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Scarpino, the Greater Rochester Area Narcotics Enforcement Team, the Rochester Police Department, under the direction of Interim Chief David Smith, the Brighton Police Department, under the direction of Chief David Catholdi, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, under the direction of Sheriff Todd Baxter.

Sentencing is scheduled for September 12, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. before Judge Larimer.

Eddie Wilson, a 24-year-old from Rochester, faces a minimum penalty of five years in prison, a maximum of life, and a $1,000,000 fine for his crimes.
