Topeka Man Sentenced for Crack Distribution

A Topeka man has been sentenced to more than 10 years in federal prison for distributing crack cocaine, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said today.

Terry Allen Thomas, Jr., 38, Topeka, Kan., was sentenced to 130 months in federal prison. In November, a federal jury found Thomas guilty on three counts of distributing crack cocaine and two counts of maintaining a residence in furtherance of drug trafficking.

Testimony at trial indicated that Thomas and co-defendants set up crack houses at various rental locations in Topeka. Thomas was convicted of maintaining crack houses at 1306 S.W. Harrison, Apt. 35; and 1312 S.W. Western, Apt. 5.

Co-defendants included: Willie Marquis Halcrombe, who was sentenced to 108 months; Glennard Hayes, who was sentenced to 75 months; Janaya Lechelle Stewart, who was sentenced to 28 months; and Audrey Ferguson, who was sentenced to four months home detention and three years supervised release.

According to authorities, Thomas and his co-defendants were involved in a large-scale crack distribution operation in Topeka. The case was investigated by the Topeka Police and Assistant U.S. Attorney Randy Hendershot, who prosecuted the case.

U.S. Attorney Grissom commended the Topeka Police and Assistant U.S. Attorney Hendershot for their work on the case.

Thomas’s sentence is a significant blow to the city’s ongoing battle against crack distribution. The Topeka Police have been working tirelessly to dismantle crack houses and bring those responsible to justice.
