Mark A. Foster, a 32-year-old from Independence, Missouri, has been charged with distributing fentanyl, a deadly synthetic opioid linked to a growing number of overdose deaths nationwide. The charge, filed by a federal grand jury on April 15, 2026, stems from an investigation into a fentanyl overdose death in Jamesport, Missouri. According to court documents, the victim’s cause of death was determined to be “fentanyl and mitragynine toxicity” by the Jackson County medical examiner. Foster’s alleged crimes were investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Northwest Missouri Drug Task Force, and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
