EDMOND, OK – A despicable sextorter and child pornographer has been handed a 15-year federal prison sentence by Judge David L. Russell for his grotesque exploitation of a vulnerable 14-year-old girl, the Department of Justice’s United States Attorney Mark A. Yancey revealed.
Carlos Alexander Davila, 23, from Edmond, used Facebook and Kik to entice the young Florida victim with false promises of psychological support after her friend’s tragic suicide. But his so-called help was a thinly veiled ploy for nude photos and videos, which he threatened to disseminate online if she dared to end their digital relationship.
According to court records, Davila’s menacing text messages revealed a chilling disregard for the girl’s well-being. He claimed to possess her intimate images, saying he would ‘leak everything’ to his ‘hungry friends.’ His threats escalated, with demands for further material and threats of harm if she didn’t comply.
After the girl reported Davila’s actions to school authorities, law enforcement was able to apprehend him. His guilty plea on June 19, 2016, marked the culmination of a harrowing ordeal that left her with lasting psychological scars.
Investigations were spearheaded by the Hillsborough County (Florida) Sheriff’s Department and the Edmond Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon Hale handling the prosecution. The grim discovery of additional child pornography on Davila’s devices painted a picture of a predator who preyed on the innocence of minors.
Upon his release from federal prison, Davila will be forever branded as a sex offender and remain under supervised release for life by the United States Probation Office. His case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by predators who exploit technology to harm the most vulnerable among us.
