Grimy Times has learned that Edy Garcia-Banegas, a 32-year-old Honduran citizen, was sentenced to six months in prison for illegal re-entry into the United States.
According to court records, Garcia-Banegas was found in the United States on December 14, 2017, after having been previously deported on multiple occasions.
The crime of illegal re-entry is a serious offense that carries significant penalties. In this case, U.S. District Judge Ivan L.R. Lemelle sentenced Garcia-Banegas to 6 months incarceration, to be followed by 1 year of supervised release and ordered to pay a $100,000 fine.
