A 16-year prison sentence was handed down to Elbert Leonard Cly, 45, of Chinle, Arizona, for the sexual abuse of a minor.
Cly, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, pleaded guilty to Abusive Sexual Contact of a Child, a federal offense.
The crime occurred between 2008 and 2010, while Cly lived with the victim’s family on the Navajo Nation.
Cly is set to serve his federal prison term, which will be followed by supervised release for the rest of his life, after completing a 15-year sentence in the Texas Department of Corrections for a similar crime.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation into the allegations, and Assistant U.S. Attorney William G. Voit handled the prosecution.
Cly’s case number is CR 18-08314-GMS, and his release number is 2021-062_Cly.
