PHOENIX, Ariz. – A 17-year-old girl was brutally assaulted at a dance in Sacaton, Arizona, in January 2012. The perpetrator, Emmett Miguel, a 33-year-old man from Sells, Arizona, was found guilty by a jury and has been brought to justice years later.
Miguel was sentenced on Monday by United States District Judge Susan M. Brnovich to 151 months in prison for Aggravated Sexual Abuse and a concurrent 120 months’ confinement for Abusive Sexual Contact. This means Miguel will spend over 12 years behind bars.
The Gila River Police Department conducted the investigation in this case. Assistant United States Attorneys Raynette Logan and Alanna Kennedy, District of Arizona, Phoenix, handled the prosecution.
According to the court documents, Miguel sexually assaulted the 17-year-old victim at a dance in Sacaton, Arizona, in January 2012. The victim was just a teenager at the time, and it is unthinkable that someone would commit such a heinous crime against an innocent child.
