Election Fraud Watch: Virginia SEEs District Election Officers Appointed

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The Eastern District of Virginia has appointed Assistant U.S. Attorneys James P. Gillis, Randy Stoker, and L. Margaret Harker as District Election Officers (DEO) to oversee complaints of election fraud and voting rights abuses in the upcoming general elections.

According to U.S. Attorney Dana J. Boente, every citizen must be able to vote without interference or discrimination, and the vote must be counted without it being stolen due to fraud. The Justice Department will act promptly and aggressively to protect the integrity of the election process.

The appointed DEOs will be responsible for overseeing the district’s handling of complaints of election fraud and voting rights abuses in consultation with Justice Department Headquarters in Washington, D.C. They will also lead the efforts of this office in connection with the Justice Department’s nationwide Election Day Program.

Under federal law, it is a crime to intimidate or bribe voters, buy and sell votes, impersonate voters, alter vote tallies, stuff ballot boxes, and mark ballots for voters against their wishes or without their input. Voters have the right to mark their own ballot or to be assisted by a person of their choice.

The DEOs will be on duty while the polls are open on November 8. For those who have concerns about election fraud or voting rights abuses, the following phone numbers will be available:

The FBI will also have special agents available in each field office and resident agency throughout the country to receive allegations of election fraud and other election abuses on election day.
