New Orleans, Louisiana – A Honduran national has been hit with serious charges for illegal re-entry into the U.S. after being deported, according to a recent indictment. Elvin Leonardo Oliva-Rodriguez, 37, was nabbed during a traffic stop on I-12, where it turned out he had violated the law by sneaking back into the country despite his prior deportation in February 2014. If convicted, the street scamp could be looking at two years behind bars, a quarter-million-dollar fine, and other penalties. This case is part of Operation Take Back America, the DOJ’s initiative to combat illegal immigration and criminal organizations. US Attorney Courcelle heaps praise on Homeland Security and Customs Enforcement Border Protection for their work in this matter.
