BIG SPLIT IN OMAHA DRUG RING: Eric D. Colclasure, 35, of Omaha, has been handed a hefty sentence for his role in a massive methamphetamine trafficking operation.
A federal court in Omaha heard that Colclasure was found with approximately 500 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of heroin, and drug dealing paraphernalia after a search warrant was executed on a hotel room he rented.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office investigated Colclasure after discovering a gun in a bag near the drugs with his identification. When questioned, Colclasure made a telling comment, saying, ‘That doesn’t look too good, does it? You guys really caught me slippin.’
The court found Colclasure guilty of Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Possession of a Firearm in Relation to a Drug Trafficking Crime. He was sentenced to 151 months’ imprisonment on the drug charge and an additional 60 months on the gun charge for a total of 17 years.
Chief United States District Court Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. handed down the sentence, which also includes a five-year term of supervised release after Colclasure’s release from prison. This was no surprise, given the severity of the crimes and the brazen nature of Colclasure’s operation.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of drug trafficking and the consequences of getting caught. Colclasure’s operation had the potential to cause widespread harm, and his sentence is a testament to the efforts of law enforcement in keeping our communities safe.
We will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
