United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods dropped a bombshell on the Omaha metro area, charging five people with a chilling conspiracy involving labor trafficking, sex trafficking, and harboring aliens at multiple hotels across the region. At the center of this sordid operation are Kentakumar Chaudhari (36), Rashmi Ajit Samani (42), Amit Prahladbhai Chaudhari (32), Amit Babubhai Chaudhari (33), and Maheshkumar Chaudhari (38), all tied to hotels in Omaha and Bellevue, NE.
Early morning on August 12, 2025, federal search warrants were executed at four locations including The AmericInn, The Inn, The New Victorian, and Roadway Inn. The affidavit paints a picture of exploitation, with minors as young as twelve forced to work long hours for little pay in unclean, unsafe, and unhealthy conditions.
But the story darkens further. Law enforcement rescued 17 adult victims from the same conspiracy, while 10 minors were also freed. The hotel rooms were described as cockroach-infested hovels where immigrant victims were forced to sleep on the floor amidst filth.
Separately, the affidavit alleges a sex trafficking ring operating within the hotels, with minors and adults both targeted. According to allegations, sex trafficking was not only tolerated but encouraged and protected by hotel management and employees.
Law enforcement also uncovered drug trafficking operations at these same properties, with law enforcement protection for traffickers. Drug needles were scattered across hotel stairwells, and overdoses became a common occurrence, requiring Narcan on hand.
Adding insult to injury, one of the defendants is charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States government by obtaining U visas under fraudulent circumstances. This scandal has exposed the depths of corruption in the Omaha metro area’s hotel industry.
