Gilberto Aguilar-Beltran, Methamphetamine Distribution Conspiracy, Nebraska 2023

Omaha has a new drug kingpin behind bars, as Gilberto Aguilar-Beltran, 46, of the city, was found guilty by a federal jury on January 27, 2023, for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The verdict comes after a trial that exposed Aguilar-Beltran’s alleged role in a vast methamphetamine distribution network.

The crime spree began when Omaha Police observed Aguilar-Beltran meet two individuals at a Taco Bell on South 42nd Street. The meeting culminated with police discovering approximately one pound of meth in a black SUV, leading to the arrest of its occupants and Aguilar-Beltran’s subsequent investigation.

OPD detectives soon uncovered that Aguilar-Beltran was not just involved in local drug transactions. A search warrant executed at his home yielded distribution quantities of meth, cash, and packaging materials indicative of a major drug operation. Further investigation revealed that Aguilar-Beltran collected thousands of dollars in proceeds from meth sales for his organization.

Testimonies during the trial exposed that Aguilar-Beltran’s garage was used as a regular drop-off point for methamphetamine offloaded from a “trap” car, which had traveled repeatedly to Omaha from the southwest border. The meth was intended for distribution across Nebraska.

The case against Aguilar-Beltran was a collaborative effort between the Omaha Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. United States District Judge Brian C. Buescher presided over the trial and set April 27, 2023, as the date for sentencing.

As the verdict sends a stark message to drug traffickers in Omaha, it also underscores the ongoing efforts by federal agencies to combat organized crime and drug trafficking across the nation.
