Plymouth Man Guilty of Fentanyl Trafficking in Luzerne County, PA

SCRANTON – A Luzerne County man has been held accountable for his role in a fentanyl trafficking operation. Eric Hill, age 34, of Plymouth, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute more than 400 grams of fentanyl in a federal court.

According to United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam, Hill admitted to conspiring with other individuals to distribute between 400 grams and 1.2 kilograms of fentanyl in the Luzerne County area between 2019 and 2020. Hill was indicted by a grand jury in August 2020 for fentanyl trafficking.

The charge against Hill resulted from an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF), the Kingston Police Department, the Luzerne County Drug Task Force, and the Pennsylvania State Police. Assistant United States Attorney Robert J. O’Hara is prosecuting the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities. The program brings together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to make neighborhoods safer for everyone.

Under federal law, the crime carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, a maximum sentence of up to life in prison, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine. A sentence following a finding of guilt is imposed by the Judge after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

Hill’s guilty plea is a significant blow to fentanyl traffickers in Luzerne County. The investigation and prosecution of this case demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combating the opioid epidemic and making our communities safer.
