ERIE, Pa. – James Michael Hendricks, 44, of Erie, Pennsylvania, is facing serious federal charges after being indicted by a grand jury for the sexual exploitation of children. The indictment, unsealed today, alleges a disturbing pattern of behavior involving the receipt and possession of horrific material, adding another grim chapter to the ongoing fight against online child abuse.
According to the two-count indictment, Hendricks allegedly received images depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct between May 8, 2021, and May 16, 2022. The charges don’t stop there; prosecutors claim Hendricks also possessed and accessed child sexual abuse material (CSAM) around June 2022, indicating a deliberate and sustained interest in this depraved content. This isn’t a fleeting mistake – it’s a calculated pattern of abuse.
United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan announced the indictment today, signaling a commitment to aggressively pursue those who prey on vulnerable children. “The exploitation of children is a horrific crime, and we will continue to dedicate resources to bring perpetrators to justice,” Olshan stated. The government is building a case that could put Hendricks away for a long time.
If convicted, Hendricks faces a potential prison sentence of no less than five years and up to 40 years behind bars. A hefty fine of up to $500,000 also hangs over his head.
