James Michael Hendricks, Child Sexual Abuse Material, Pennsylvania 2022

ERIE, Pa. – A resident of Erie, Pennsylvania, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of violating federal laws relating to the sexual exploitation of children, United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan announced today.

The two-count Indictment named James Michael Hendricks, 44, as the sole defendant, accusing him of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material. Hendricks allegedly received images depicting minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct from May 8, 2021, to May 16, 2022, and possessed and accessed child sexual abuse material in June 2022.

The law provides for a maximum total sentence of not less than five years and up to 40 years in prison, a fine of up to $500,000, or both. Under the federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government, with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Pennsylvania State Police conducting the investigation leading to the Indictment.

Hendricks’ charges were brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children and to identify and rescue victims.

An indictment is an accusation. James Michael Hendricks is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. This case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of child sexual exploitation on victims and their families. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
