Adam Gregory Ryzinski, a 38-year-old man from Erie, Pennsylvania, is facing federal charges after being indicted on two counts related to the possession and receipt of child pornography. The indictment, unsealed this week, alleges Ryzinski knowingly received and stored digital files showing prepubescent minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
According to court documents, federal and state investigators uncovered evidence that Ryzinski possessed computer images and videos that depict the sexual exploitation of children. The material was allegedly found during a coordinated digital forensics sweep conducted by law enforcement, leading to the federal grand jury’s decision to indict.
Ryzinski is charged with violations of federal laws targeting the sexual exploitation of children. Each count carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, totaling up to 40 years behind bars. Prosecutors also note that Ryzinski could face a fine of up to $500,000, or both imprisonment and financial penalties, if convicted.
The case falls under Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual abuse and exploitation. The program unites federal, state, and local agencies to track down offenders and rescue victims. This nationwide push has led to thousands of arrests, with the FBI and Pennsylvania State Police playing key roles in this investigation.
Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold is leading the prosecution. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania, under Scott W. Brady, announced the charges and emphasized that while the indictment is serious, Ryzinski is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police conducted the investigation. Ryzinski’s arrest marks another aggressive move by federal authorities to crack down on the distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material online. A trial date has not yet been set.
