Erie Man Charged with Child Exploitation Crimes

A resident of Erie, Pennsylvania, has been charged with violating federal laws relating to the sexual exploitation of children. Todd Calvin Lapping, 39, is accused of producing and possessing images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

According to the indictment, Lapping produced images of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct and possessed computer images depicting minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 80 years in prison, a fine of $750,000, or both.

Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The Millcreek Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Pennsylvania State Police conducted the investigation leading to the indictment.
