Erik Rodolfo Lozano-Arratia, a 27-year-old Kingston resident, was handed a time-served sentence of 110 days in jail for illegally re-entering the United States.
According to court documents, Lozano-Arratia was sentenced on today for re-entering the country despite being removed multiple times.
Lozano-Arratia, a Mexican citizen, admitted to returning to the US after his May 15, 2013 removal to Mexico, as well as being removed four other times: January 4, 2012, October 21, 2011, August 18, 2011, and July 15, 2011.
Lozano-Arratia was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Kingston on October 20, 2016.
Following his sentencing, Lozano-Arratia was remanded to the custody of the Department of Homeland Security, which will place him into removal proceedings.
The case was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), in Newburgh, New York, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward P. Grogan.
