FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS – In a shocking turn of events, a notorious methamphetamine trafficker has been brought to justice. Eugene Blackwood, age 47, of Westville, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 146 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for his role in distributing methamphetamine in Northwest Arkansas.
According to court records, the investigation into Blackwood’s activities began in the fall of 2019, when agents and taskforce officers with the Drug Enforcement Administration initiated an investigation into his drug distribution in the region. Throughout the course of the investigation, investigators were able to conduct several controlled purchases of methamphetamine from Blackwood, which ultimately led to his indictment by a federal grand jury in November of 2019.
Blackwood’s guilty plea in December of 2019 marked a major turning point in the case, and it was clear that his days of evading the law were numbered. The Honorable Judge Timothy L. Brooks presided over the sentencing hearing in the United States District Court in Fayetteville, where Blackwood’s fate was sealed.
The case against Blackwood was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kim Harris, who worked tirelessly to bring the perpetrator to justice. The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, whose dedication and expertise played a crucial role in uncovering the evidence needed to secure Blackwood’s conviction.
