Eureka Man Admits Meth, Heroin Trafficking

MISSOULA – Eureka man, Tracy Eugene Conard, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute controlled substances after law enforcement found 53.6 grams of methamphetamine, 9.9 grams of black tar heroin, and numerous firearms and ammunition at his residence, U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme said.

Conard, 50, faces a minimum mandatory five years to 40 years in prison, a $5 million fine and at least five years of supervised release.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Kathleen L. DeSoto presided over the hearing, during which Conard was released pending further proceedings. Sentencing was set for Jan. 8, 2021.

The investigation, led by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, began in October 2019. An informant conducted a controlled buy of methamphetamine from Conard, which led to the execution of a search warrant at Conard’s residence.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Clark is prosecuting the case, which is part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative to reduce violent crime. The initiative focuses on violent crime driven by methamphetamine trafficking, armed robbers, firearms offenses, and violent offenders with outstanding warrants.

Evidence uncovered during the investigation included 53.6 grams of methamphetamine, 9.9 grams of black tar heroin, and numerous firearms and ammunition. The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be filed in the coming days.
