Ex-Officer Sentenced To 15 Years For Child Porn
FORT WORTH, Texas – A former police officer has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison and fined $5,000 for producing and possessing child pornography.
Philip Woolery, a 47-year-old former officer with the Grapevine, Texas, Police Department, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Terry R. Means after pleading guilty in March 2013 to producing and possessing child pornography.
Woolery was arrested in October 2012 at his residence in Crowley, Texas, by U.S. Postal Inspectors during the execution of a federal search warrant. He admitted to recording a minor male engaging in sexually explicit conduct in a swimming pool using his digital camera in August 2011.
In addition, Woolery admitted to possessing a laptop computer containing a sexually explicit image of a nude minor male and using that computer and the Internet to search for websites containing child pornography in October 2012.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Woolery’s case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, with Assistant U.S. Attorney A. Saleem prosecuting. The case is part of a larger effort by the federal government to combat child exploitation and abuse.
