Joseph diGenova, a veteran US Attorney, has landed a top spot as Counselor to the Attorney General, advising senior officials on policy and enforcement matters. DiGenova, 84, has spent decades navigating the nation’s capital, leading complex investigations and prosecutions in the nation’s capital and in private practice.
As Counselor, diGenova will draw on his experience, which spans four decades, to advise the Attorney General on significant legal, policy, and enforcement matters. He has served in some of the most demanding roles in government and private practice, representing clients in high-stakes criminal, civil, and congressional investigations.
Before this appointment, diGenova served as the US Attorney for the District of Columbia from 1983 to 1988, overseeing major public corruption, national security, and violent crime prosecutions. He has also been a frequent legal commentator and advisor on matters involving federal law enforcement and constitutional issues.
DiGenova’s appointment comes as the Department of Justice continues to grapple with high-profile cases and internal reforms. As Counselor, he will support the Department’s mission to protect Americans, enforce the rule of law, and ensure the fair and impartial administration of justice.
