Faneisha Scott, Child Murder, California 2023

Washington – Faneisha Scott, a 39-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., was handed a sentence of forty-one years in prison by D.C. Superior Court on October 24, 2025, for the heinous murder of her 16-month-old daughter, Rhythm Fields.

Scott’s conviction, reached on June 11, 2025, by a Superior Court jury, includes charges of first-degree cruelty to children and second-degree cruelty to children, alongside first-degree felony murder with aggravating circumstances. The trial revealed shocking details of the March 2017 death of Rhythm.

On March 21, 2017, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Scott’s friend discovered Rhythm unresponsive in her playpen, cold and lifeless. A mail carrier was flagged down by Scott to call 911, leading to the discovery of Rhythm on the couch. Tragically, efforts to revive the child were futile, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the incident, the D.C. Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy, determining that Rhythm’s death was a result of homicide caused by multiple blunt force injuries, including head contusions, abrasions, subdural hemorrhage, cerebral edema, and 23 bilateral rib fractures, some healing while others were recent.

Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department joined U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro in commending the investigation by her department and Assistant U.S. Attorneys Emma McArthur and Andrea Antonelli for their dedication to this case.

This dark chapter in D.C.’s criminal history serves as a stark reminder of the horror that can be unleashed within the confines of a home, leaving behind a family shattered and seeking justice.
