In the early morning hours of October 6, 2024, a brutal stabbing occurred in Northeast DC, outside 1719 Lincoln Road, NE. Kevin Johnson, 40, agitated from a previous altercation, made threats before approaching Antonio Pierre Woody, a 44-year-old wheelchair-bound man, and stabbing him multiple times. The victim attempted to crawl away, but Johnson struck and stabbed him again. The motive behind the attack is unclear, but the violence was unprovoked and deadly.
Johnson then disposed of the victim’s cell phone down a storm drain and left the scene. However, he was identified by a security individual and later arrested by police at the MPD Homicide Branch. The investigation was led by the Metropolitan Police Department, with assistance from the US Attorney’s office.
On February 24, 2026, Johnson pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder while armed. As part of his plea agreement, he was sentenced to 18 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. The sentence was handed down by the Honorable Rainey Brandt in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
The case was commended by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro and Interim Chief Jeffery Carroll of the Metropolitan Police Department, who praised the work of the investigators and prosecutors involved. The sentence brings closure to the family of Antonio Pierre Woody, but the community is still left to grapple with the senseless violence that occurred on that morning in October 2024.
