Williamsport, PA — Eric Rodriguez, a 32-year-old inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Allenwood, has been slammed with a 21-month sentence after being caught with a razor blade that posed as a weapon.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania revealed yesterday that Rodriguez was sentenced to serve time by Chief United States District Judge Matthew W. Brann. The sentence comes as a result of Rodriguez’s conviction on charges of possessing contraband in prison.
Acting U.S. Attorney John Gurganus shared details of the case, explaining that Rodriguez was nabbed during a random pat-down search. Authorities found the razor blade, which had a handle crafted from electrical tape, hidden on his person. Rodriguez later pleaded guilty to the charge.
The FBI conducted the investigation into the contraband incident, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Robin Zenzinger handling the prosecution of the case.
Rodriguez’s sentence sends a stern message about the zero-tolerance policy on weapons in federal correctional facilities. His fate serves as a cautionary tale for inmates who dare bring dangerous items into the confines of the penal system.
FCI Allenwood remains vigilant, with constant oversight to prevent such incidents from occurring. Rodriguez’s case underscores the importance of maintaining a secure environment for all inmates and staff alike.
