Jonathan Scott, a 33-year-old felon from Oak Park, Illinois, was sentenced to 32 months in federal prison for illegally possessing a handgun in Chicago. The incident occurred on May 25, 2025, outside a McDonald’s restaurant on the West Side of Chicago, where Scott displayed a handgun during an argument with an employee. At the time, Scott was on pre-trial release for a violent crime case pending in state court, in which he forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s car and took her cell phone, causing injury.
Scott pleaded guilty in March 2026 to a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm. U.S. District Judge Sara L. Ellis sentenced Scott to 32 months in federal prison, which was within the advisory U.S. Sentencing Guidelines range. The federal investigation was conducted in coordination with the ATF’s Crime Gun Intelligence Center of Chicago.
