Felon Jailed for Gun Crime in Corpus Christi
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – A Corpus Christi resident was ordered to federal prison after unlawfully possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
A 39-year-old Jacob Andrew Rosenblum pleaded guilty to the crime on September 23, 2021. U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos handed down a 77-month sentence, to be immediately followed by three years of supervised release.
However, Rosenblum will first return to state custody to serve a separate sentence before being transferred to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility to be determined in the future.
The charges stem from a March 29, 2021, incident, where authorities observed Rosenblum attempting to break into a storage container. When confronted, he fled, leading to a brief foot pursuit.
Law enforcement detained him, but soon discovered a revolver containing five rounds of ammunition concealed within his waistband area. They also found multiple locks and a master key, which revealed he had previously used the key to escape custody on a previous occasion.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with the assistance of the Corpus Christi Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Roland Swanson prosecuted the case.
Rosenblum’s extensive criminal history was also brought to light in court, including the recent escape from local law enforcement custody after being placed under arrest for an unrelated offense.
