Felon Sentenced for Domestic Assault with Firearm

A St. Louis man has been sentenced to 84 months in federal prison for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, in connection with a domestic assault.

On September 28, 2021, Jermaine Collier appeared before United States District Court Judge Ronnie L. White, where he was sentenced for his crimes.

Collier, a previously convicted felon, was prohibited from possessing the weapons due to his conviction. However, during a domestic assault in the City of St. Louis on November 25, 2020, Collier exhibited a black-and-greenish-brown rifle in a threatening manner towards the victim.

As a result of the investigation by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police, Collier was arrested on December 3, 2020. Upon his arrest, he advised that he had a loaded 9mm Ruger pistol in his jacket pocket, and two other guns were seized at his residence.

The sentence handed out to Collier is based in large part on the enhancements for physically restraining a victim, using a firearm in connection with another felony offense, possessing three or more firearms, and obstructing justice by attempting to conceal a shotgun.

The charges against Collier highlight the dangers of gun violence in our community and the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions.

This case was investigated by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, and serves as a reminder of the importance of working together to prevent domestic violence and keep our community safe.
