Felon ‘Trigger’ Sentenced 7 Years for Gun Possession
Raleigh, N.C. – A Wilson man has been sentenced to 84 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Terrance Anthony Moore, 35, was convicted of the charge by a jury on March 23, 2021.
According to court records and evidence presented at trial, Moore possessed a firearm on July 8, 2018. He was seen by law enforcement standing on the side of the road in Wilson, raising and lowering the firearm in the direction of nearby businesses.
Moore took the stand and testified, among other things, that he had a number of previous felony convictions, including two common law robberies and a drug distribution offense, within the previous ten years. He also testified that his nickname was ‘Trigger’ due to his violent temper.
‘Trigger’ Moore’s lengthy rap sheet was a key factor in his conviction and sentencing. U.S. District Judge Terrence W. Boyle took into account Moore’s prior convictions when handing down the 84-month sentence.
The investigation into Moore’s gun possession was a joint effort between the Wilson Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lucy Brown prosecuted the case.
Moore’s sentencing is a significant blow to those who would seek to possess firearms while being a convicted felon. This case serves as a reminder of the serious consequences that come with breaking the law.
