Shanon Dewynn Robinson, a 54-year-old Gretna, Florida man, has been indicted in federal court for possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon. The indictment, announced by United States Attorney John P. Heekin, stems from Robinson’s history of prior felony offenses, which prohibits him from owning or possessing firearms. Robinson appeared in federal court for his arraignment before United States Magistrate Judge Martin A. Fitzpatrick in Tallahassee, Florida, with a jury trial scheduled for September 8, 2026.
The case against Robinson was investigated by the Tallahassee Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, with assistance from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney James A. McCain is prosecuting the case. If convicted, Robinson faces a minimum mandatory 15 years’ imprisonment, with a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
The indictment is part of Operation Take Back America and Project Safe Neighborhoods, nationwide initiatives aimed at combating violent crime and protecting communities from perpetrators. These initiatives bring together federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement, prosecutors, and other public safety partners to coordinate efforts and make communities safer.
