Joshua John Soudelier, Felony Firearm Possession, Alabama 2020

A Robertsdale man has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Joshua John Soudelier, 42, was arrested during a traffic stop by Foley Police officers on December 15, 2020.

The officers stopped Soudelier for not having a court-ordered ignition interlock device installed on his car. While taking him into custody, officers asked Soudelier if he had anything in the car that he was not supposed to have. Soudelier admitted to having a loaded Taurus 9mm pistol, which officers found wedged between the driver’s seat and center console of the car.

Soudelier has a prior felony conviction for assault with a deadly weapon in Los Angeles, California. His previous conviction made possession of the pistol illegal under federal law. United States District Judge Terry F. Moorer handed down the sentencing.

As part of his sentence, Soudelier will serve a three-year term of supervised release upon his release from prison. He will also undergo drug testing and treatment. The court did not impose a fine, but ordered Soudelier to pay $100 in special assessments.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Foley Police Department investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Roller prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
