TWO-TIME CONVICTED FELON FROM LEVY COUNTY CHARGED WITH POSSESSING A GUN AND AMMUNITION
GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA – A chilling indictment has been handed down in the Northern District of Florida, targeting a repeat offender with a long history of crime. Kashone Demetrious Bing, 20, of Levy County, has been charged with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.
According to the Department of Justice, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) investigated the case, which was subsequently presented to a federal grand jury. The indictment alleges that Bing, a two-time convicted felon, knowingly possessed a firearm and ammunition, a clear violation of federal law.
Bing’s arraignment is scheduled for July 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. before United States Magistrate Judge Midori Lowry in Gainesville, Florida. If convicted, Bing faces a daunting 15 years’ imprisonment, a stark reminder of the severe consequences awaiting those who choose to disregard the law.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida, under the direction of John P. Heekin, has taken a firm stance against violent crime and the perpetuation of a culture of lawlessness. Assistant United States Attorney Adam Hapner will prosecute the case, determined to bring Bing to justice.
An indictment, while a serious allegation, is not evidence of guilt. Bing, like all defendants, is presumed innocent until proven otherwise. The burden of proof rests squarely on the government’s shoulders, and it will be up to the prosecution to demonstrate beyond a reasonable doubt that Bing is guilty of the crimes alleged.
