ORLANDO, FL – In a hard-hitting blow to the drug trade in Florida, Darrell Lamar Corbin (35), of West Melbourne, was today sentenced by U.S. District Judge Wendy W. Berger to 15 years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine.
Corbin’s ignominious plea came on January 3, 2025, when he admitted his role in the dark world of drug trafficking. According to court documents, Corbin had stockpiled over 400 grams of a deadly mixture containing fentanyl—a substance that has been linked to countless overdoses across the nation—and over 5 grams of methamphetamine, a drug that promises quick and destructive highs.
The evidence against Corbin was overwhelming. Law enforcement officers, executing a search warrant at his residence, discovered the toxic drugs scattered throughout the apartment. The seizure also included a disturbing array of drug distribution paraphernalia: digital scales, pill presses, and an electronic money counter—all tools of the trade for those who peddle death on the streets.
This case was a collaborative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the West Melbourne Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Robert D. Sowell took the lead in prosecuting Corbin, ensuring that the lawbreaker would face the justice he so richly deserved.
