BUFFALO, N.Y. – Santos Santiago, 49, of Jamestown, New York, is headed to federal prison for a decade and eleven months. U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. handed down the 132-month sentence today for the narcotics conspiracy that flooded the streets with deadly fentanyl and other illicit drugs. But the real danger surfaced as officers moved to secure the scene – Santiago, in a desperate attempt to destroy evidence, scattered fentanyl into the air, creating a hazardous cloud. The evidence painted a clear picture of Santiago as a central figure in a dangerous drug network. The sentencing is a direct result of a joint investigation between the DEA’s New York Field Division, under the direction of Frank Tarentino, and the Jamestown Police Department, led by Chief Timothy Jackson.
