A 28-year-old Dominican national, Anderson Ernesto Andujar Echavarria, was sentenced to five years in prison for his role in a large-scale fentanyl trafficking conspiracy in Boston, Massachusetts. Andujar pleaded guilty to distributing tens of thousands of fentanyl pills, as well as powdered fentanyl, cocaine, and crystal methamphetamine to undercover law enforcement. The investigation began in November 2023, and Andujar was arrested in September 2024, along with three co-conspirators.
Andujar’s operation was massive, with law enforcement seizing 30,000 blue pressed fentanyl pills and 500 grams of powder fentanyl at the time of his arrest. His co-conspirators, including Waner Bernabel Presinal and Carlos Fabal, were also charged and sentenced. Fabal, a fentanyl pill supplier, was previously convicted of conspiracy to distribute cocaine in 2007 and sentenced to 67 months in prison.
Andujar’s sentencing is a significant blow to fentanyl trafficking in Massachusetts. The defendant is subject to deportation upon completion of his sentence. The case was investigated by federal law enforcement agencies, including the DEA and FBI.
