Sadai Lopez, a 38-year-old man from Goodyear, Arizona, has been caught in a web of deceit for trafficking fentanyl pills from Arizona to North Carolina. Between August 2023 and November 2024, Lopez used the US Postal Service to mail parcels containing the deadly pills to an accomplice in Newton Falls, Ohio, who would then redistribute them to North Carolina. The parcels were sent from various US Postal Service offices in the Phoenix area, with one search warrant uncovering 1.150 kilograms of fentanyl pills hidden inside two vacuum-sealed bags.
Lopez’s guilty plea includes charges of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and distribution of a controlled substance. The investigation was led by the US Postal Service Inspection Service, with prosecution being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin E. Bringman for the Northern District of Ohio.
The case highlights the ongoing issue of fentanyl trafficking in the US, with the drug being responsible for thousands of overdose deaths each year. Lopez’s sentencing is scheduled for August 4, 2026, where a federal district court judge will determine his sentence based on the US Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
